Μικρός αναστοχασμός για το συνέδριο: “Anastasios: Archbishop, Theologian, Missionary”

 Με μεγάλη επιτυχία πραγματοποιήθηκε το συνέδριο “Anastasios: Archbishop, Theologian, Missionary” με τη συμμετοχή πολλών ιεραρχών, ακαδημαϊκών και ιεραποστόλων από όλον τον κόσμο που συγκεντρώθηκαν για να τιμήσουν τη ζωή και την κληρονομιά του Αρχιεπισκόπου Αλβανίας Αναστασίου.

Οι εργασίες του συνεδρίου πραγματοποιήθηκαν από τις 2-4 Μαρτίου στη Θεολογική Σχολή "Τίμιος Σταυρός" στη Βοστώνη.

Το συνέδριο παρακολούθησαν ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Αλβανίας κ Ιωάννης, ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Αμερικής κ Ελπιδοφόρος και ο πρώην Αρχιεπίσκοπος Αμερικής κ Δημήτριος, πολλοί ιεράρχες, κληρικοί, θεολόγοι και πλήθος φοιτητών. .

Την κεντρική ομιλία εκφώνησε ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Αλβανίας κ Ιωάννης με θέμα «The Legacy of Archbishop Anastasios of Albania».

Τις επόμενες ημέρες, οι εισηγητές ανέπτυξαν ποικίλες διαστάσεις του ιεραποστολικού έργου του Αρχιεπισκόπου Αναστασίου.

Με επιστημονική τεκμηρίωση:

Α)  υπογράμμισαν τη συμβολή του στη διαμόρφωση της θεολογίας της χριστιανικής μαρτυρίας,

β) ανέδειξαν την ιεραποστολική του δράση στην Αφρική καθώς τις πρωτοβουλίες του για επανευαγγελισμό των Ορθοδόξων μέσα από την Αποστολική Διακονία,

γ)παρουσίασαν την προσφορά του στη συμμετοχή των Ορθοδόξων στην οικουμενική κίνηση και το ΠΣΕ, στην κοινή χριστιανική μαρτυρία καθώς και τις πρωτοβουλίες του για την καλλιέργεια της ειρηνικής συνύπαρξης στο σύγχρονο πλουραλιστικό κόσμο μέσα από τις διάφορες μορφές του διαθρησκειακού διαλόγου,

δ) επισήμαναν τη σπουδαιότητα της επικοινωνίας και της διακονίας στο πολυδιάστατο έργο του,

ε) ανέπτυξαν την καθοριστική συμβολή του στην ανασυγκρότηση της Εκκλησίας της Αλβανίας.

Η επιστημονική προσέγγιση των εισηγητών συνδυάστηκε με τον βιωματικό λόγο.  Οι συζητήσεις στο τέλος κάθε συνεδρίας και οι αναμνήσεις από την ζωή του Αρχιεπισκόπου Αναστασίου τεκμηρίωσαν με περισσή σπουδή το μεγαλείο, τη γνησιότητα, την αγάπη αλλά και την ταπείνωση του Αρχιεπίσκοπου Αναστασίου.

Η δική μου εισήγηση τη δεύτερη μέρα είχε ως τίτλο: «Anastasios as Theologian: Interfaith Theology and Coexistence».

Ιδιαίτερα συγκινητική ήταν η τελευταία του συνέντευξη του Αρχιεπισκόπου Αναστασίου στην κ Ξανθή Μόρφη, η οποία προβλήθηκε στο πλαίσιο του συνεδρίου.

Ιδιαίτερο παλμό πρόσφερε η πανορθόδοξη θεία Λειτουργία την Κυριακή της Ορθοδοξίας στον ναό της Αγίας Αικατερίνης.

Την  εν Χριστώ ελπίδα πρόσφερε η συνέντευξη του νυν Αρχιεπισκόπου Αλβανίας κ Ιωάννη στο τέλος του συνεδρίου.

Μοναδικές ήταν οι λατρευτικές ακολουθίες στο παρεκκλήσι της Σχολής, όπου κορίτσια και αγόρια φοιτητές έψαλαν με ιδιαίτερη κατάνυξη στα αγγλικά και στα ελληνικά.

 

Η φιλοξενία ήταν ιδιαίτερα θερμή στο χιονισμένο τοπίο της Βοστώνης. Εξίσου σημαντική ήταν και η συνεργασία των εθελοντών φοιτητών.

Το συνέδριο οργανώθηκε από το Huffington Ecumenical Institute at Hellenic College Holy Cross and the Missions Institute of Orthodox Christianity.

A little reflection on the conference: “Anastasios: Archbishop, Theologian, Missionary”

The conference "Anastasios: Archbishop, Theologian, Missionary" was held with great success with the participation of many hierarchs, academics and missionaries from all over the world who gathered to honor the life and legacy of Archbishop Anastasios of Albania.

The conference took place from March 2-4 at the Holy Cross School of Theology in Boston.

The conference was attended by Archbishop John of Albania, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America and former Archbishop Demetrios of America, as well as many hierarchs, clergy, theologians and a large number of students.

Archbishop John of Albania delivered the keynote address on «The Legacy of Archbishop Anastasios of Albania».

In the following days, the speakers developed various dimensions of the missionary, ecclesiastical and pastoral work of Archbishop Anastasios.

The speakers with scientific documentation:

A) underlined his contribution to the formation of the theology of Christian witness,

b) highlighted his missionary activity in Africa as well as his initiatives for the re-evangelization of the Orthodox through the Apostoliki Diakonia,

c) presented his contribution to the participation of the Orthodox in the ecumenical movement and the WCC, in the common Christian witness as well as his initiatives for the cultivation of peaceful coexistence in the modern pluralistic world through the various forms of interreligious dialogue,

d) they pointed out the importance of communication and ministry in his multidimensional work,

e) developed his decisive contribution to the reconstruction of the Church of Albania.

The scientific approach of the speakers was combined with experiential discourse.  The discussions at the end of each session and the memories from the life of Archbishop Anastasios documented with great haste the greatness, authenticity, love and humility of Archbishop Anastasios.

My own presentation on the second day was entitled: «Anastasios as Theologian: Interfaith Theology and Coexistence».

Archbishop Anastasios' last interview with Ms. Xanthi Morfi, which was screened in the context of the conference, was particularly moving.

The pan-Orthodox Divine Liturgy on the Sunday of Orthodoxy in the church of St. Catherine offered a special pulse.

 The hope in Christ was offered by the interview of the current Archbishop of Albania, Mr. John, at the end of the conference.

Unique were the worship services in the chapel of the School, where girls and boy students chanted with great devoutness in English and Greek.

 

The hospitality was especially warm in the snowy landscape of Boston. Equally important was the cooperation of the student volunteers.

The conference was organized by theHuffington Ecumenical Institute at Hellenic College Holy Cross and the Missions Institute of Orthodox Christianity.
