Abstract

Technological and scientific development offer new possibilities in communication and education. In particular, multimedia applications are a modern tool that can be used by church communities, with the aim of spreading the Gospel with immediacy and synchronicity to various recipients around the world. These applications can also be used in church education, aiming at a learning centered on discovery knowledge. The present assignment refers to the perspectives of the utilization of Information and

Communication Technologies (ICT) in the church field. At the same time, it researches various digital applications, which are based on multimedia and favor the transmission of the perennial Christian message by combining many forms, such as text, image, animation, sound and video. In this context, the necessity of witnessing in Christ in the digital world is highlighted and the benefits of interactivity - interaction between transmitter and receiver are presented. Finally, the assignment concludes with specific proposals and examples of the utilization of such applications with the use of mobile devices. These examples refer to Christian witness and communication, preaching as well as church catechism and Christian education.

Introduction

Preaching and catechism are the main ways of communication and transmission of the Gospel message to the world. With preaching the Christian Church calls the nations to disciple, catechizes those who accept this call and then as members of the eucharistic community initiates them in faith. On the other hand,

with the catechetical work and Christian education, it teaches the 90 Theology and Life truth of the Gospel to students as well as to adults. These traditional ways of witnessing in Christ contributed decisively to the

spread of the Gospel throughout the world1. At the same time, the preachers and teachers of faith, through the example of their lives, contributed to the inclusion of people from all over the world in the Church2.
