Message and Witness. The homiletical and missionary dimension of Archbishop Anastasios' sermon (Video)
Archbishop Anastasios was a pioneer in the revival of Orthodox witness to the nations with the magazine Porefthedes – Go YE. He worked as a missionary in Africa, took care of the re-evangelism of the Orthodox as director of the Apostoliki Diakonia of the Church of Greece, he played a leading role in ecumenical and interreligious dialogue, and he also planned and implemented the reconstruction of the Church of Albania for the last 3 decades. His work is multidimensional and has received international recognition.
Among
the various roles and responsibilities, he has undertaken, he sought to convey
the message of the Gospel. The main purpose of this presentation is to examine the
missionary characteristics of Archbishop Anastasios' preaching, as well as to
provide answers to the following research questions: a) What is his profile as
a preacher? b) What are his main theological views? c) How do these views
relate to modern recipients? d) What are the communicative characteristics of
his preaching? The method is based on the basic theory of communication and
combines thematic analysis, based on individual questions. The findings of the
thesis are then briefly captured.
